I like to use a lot of different media from traditional, to rendering my art in photoshop, to even arts and crafts. I injured my arm when I was a teenager so anything I make comes with a great cost. Pain. Still I persevere because I enjoy what I do.

Need advice on animating

Posted by Abbyka - November 16th, 2010

Since I don't have a tablet I would be doing it entirely by hand and scanning each frame in. It's a short and sweet animation I'm planning but I'd like to hear some advice on how to make this less painstaking and smoother. I'm also struggling with whether I should use a background or not since this will be my first animation.

I'll send you a PM

Illegally download Flash.

Scanning papers one by one will work about as well as stabbing yourself in they eye with your pen. Whatever though.

I'd still have to draw by hand even with flash. I don't have a tablet. Drawing with a mouse is out, I'm terrible at that. My arm tends to shake a lot when I use my mouse for anything that is precise like drawing.

If you need a background or not depends on what kind of animation it will be.

If you really (really really?) want to draw everything by hand a background will be a real pain I guess.

You could draw a stale background scan it and print one for every frame and draw your animation on it as a workaround.

Or you cut your scanned drawings with photoshop or GIMP and put them on a background in flash. But that would be an additional pain.

I'm not an animator myself btw.... just saying.

Well what I have planned is going to be a short and sweet animation. The little comic I'm basing it off of (that I did) didn't have a background either.
